Designer Dresses in The World Financial Center


If you are downtown, plan a visit to the Courtyard Gallery in the World Financial Center Winter Garden to see the Amazonia Design Fashion and Sustainable Economy Exhibit that is currently on display until July 13, 2008.

The exhibition presents items by leading designers and companies from the Amazon region who utilize raw but renewable materials found in the Brazilian Amazon.

Highlights of the exhibit include designs from São Paulo Fashion Week made from items such as shells and rubber.

There are also pieces of furniture, a guitar and various baskets.

Coinciding with this exhibit is the Amazonia Brasil main exhibit at South Street Seaport (Fulton and South Streets, Pier 17) This 13,000-square-foot re-creation of the Amazon allows visitors to experience the sights and sounds of the Brazilian Amazon jungle (until July 13, 2008).

Photographs by Rodrigo Petrella portraying the every day lives of indigenous populations will be on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
