Church Street between Park Place and Murray Street and to West Broadway
In 1760, this was the first permanent home to King's College (later named Columbia College). Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and Robert Livingston studied at this campus. Columbia College remained at this location until 1857 when it moved to Madison Avenue and East 49th Street.
The site now houses an Amish market and luxury condominums. The next time you are in the neighborhood take a look at the interesting sign on the side of the building indicating that it was the first home of Columbia College.
