Backstage at the New York City Ballet

I absolutely love the numerous opportunities available for kids in New York City to explore the arts.

Backstage at the Ballet introduces young children (Kindergarten - 2nd grade) to the art of ballet. This free tour allows students to visit the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center where they watch a ballet video, view the theater from the highest point in the house (the Fourth Ring), explore costumes and pointe shoes, and get a close look at the orchestra pit and stage.

For the rest of us, the New York City Ballet has released some great behind-the-scenes videos.  The ballet also offers $29 day-of tickets to anyone 29 years of age or under for select performances.
