Charles Marville: Photographer of Paris

Charles Marville: Photographer of Paris is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until May 4, 2014.

Marville is acknowledged as one of the most talented photographers of the nineteenth century (French 1813-1879)

Marville's career began as an illustrator of books and magazines.  In 1850 he switched to photography.

He took photographs throughout France, Germany and Italy, but it was Paris that provided his greatest inspiration.

If you are unable to attend the exhibit, a collection of his work is currently available on Amazon.
