P.S. Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

"Close observation of student artwork...gives a special window into how young people understand and explore the world around them. I can think of nothing more thrilling for our student artists than to see their work hanging in one of the world's greatest museums."
Caroline Kennedy, Honorary Director, The Fund for Public Schools
This year marks the eleventh anniversary of P.S. Art. Every year a collection of artwork from talented students of all grade levels in New York City is displayed.

The selection this year showcases the creativity of eighty-three students from all five boroughs.  It includes paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, mixed-media works, collages, and drawings.

The collection will be at the Metropolitan Museum of Art until August 25. On August 27 the exhibit moves to the Tweed Courthouse (52 Chambers Street) where it will be on display through November 15, 2013.

For more information on the student's art, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art web site to view a slide show.  Descriptions of the art and artists, as well as photos, are included on the site.

This is a wonderful program and I hope the city will continue to encourage the creativity of young artists.
